Dear Parents, Students, and Families,
Welcome to Kindergarten! We are so excited that you will be joining us at the Douglas Primary
School this August!
In order to help you get ready for the first day of school, you will need to register your child for
a Kindergarten screening. During the screening, teachers will evaluate a range of developmental
tasks including self-care skills, language development, cognitive skills, gross motor skills, and
fine motor skills. The results of the screening will enable teachers to make class lists which are
equitable.
***IMPORTANT: If your child attended the Douglas Preschool this past year, they do NOT
need to sign up for screening.
Screening sign- ups will be done online using the link below. Tuesday screening runs from 8:40
to 2:40 and Wednesday screening is from 8:40 to 11:00. Please only sign up for one time slot.

Kindergarten Orientation
The Kindergarten teachers and I would like to invite
you and your child to join us on
Thursday, Sept. 2nd for Kindergarten Orientation. This Orientation will give us a chance to
answer all of your questions and show you our wonderful Primary School and all that we have
to offer. You will also be able to meet your Kindergarten teacher and some of the friends who
will be at the Primary School with you and also to drop off your school supplies.
The information is as follows:
Thursday, Sept. 2, 2021
All last names beginning with A-K 9:30-10:15
All last names beginning with L-Z 10:30-11:15
There is NO School on Friday, Sept. 3rd or Monday, Sept. 6th, therefore
the first day of school
for Kindergarten will be Tuesday, Sept. 7th.
